The time for choosing this year’s best Tuscan olive oils has arrived. The registrations for the selection of DOP and IGP extra virgin olive oils for 2018 are now officially open in Tuscany.
The Selection highlights the best Tuscan olive oils, in order to use them as promotional tools in Italy and abroad. At the same time, it is a way to reward the olive oil producers and to motivate them to constantly improve the quality of their products.
The Selection is dedicated to the extra virgin olive oils of Tuscany, produced by companies that have their production facilities in Tuscany, and DOP and IGP certifications; it is reserved for official producers’ organizations, business combinations (excluding consortia or representative associations), and individual companies that operate in the olive oil production sector.
It’s free to participate in the selection process, and each producer can submit up to a maximum of 2 olive oils.
After the registration deadlines (scheduled for January 31st), a specific and qualified regional tasting commission composed of oil tasting technicians will decide which are the best DOP and IGP extra virgin olive oils of 2017/2018 season.
