The last in order of time to be communicated was today, Monday 27 April, the suppression of the Festa del Giaggiolo, in San Polo in Chianti.
We know it well, in the face of the Coronavirus, thinking about the manifestations that jump is a bit selfish.
But as Chianti people we cannot help feeling sadness in the face of a totally skipped spring-summer of events. Which means traditions, tourism, identity.
From the Sagra delle Frittelle di Montefioralle to the Market of Things from the Past on Easter Monday in Greve in Chianti.
From the Medieval Carnival of San Casciano to the Chianti Classico Marathon, up to the Festa della Stagion Bona in Panzano in Chianti, where on April 25 this year it had a different flavor.
This is just to stay with those that come to mind among the traditional and most important. But there are many events that will not take place in this 2020.
And the mind is already running to the great events of late summer and early autumn: the Expo of Chianti Classico in Greve in Chianti, Vino al Vino in Panzano, L’Eroica in Gaiole, the Granfondo del Gallo Nero in Radda in Chianti, Pentecoste in Castellina, the Ecomarathon in Castelnuovo Berardenga.
We could go on and on. We only hope that they can represent the beginning of a rebirth ….
