A record number of tourists visited Castelnuovo Berardenga in 2017, where numerous events attracted visitors to this area in the off-season.
This is confirmed by the data recently released by the Osservatorio Turistico of the Municipality of Siena.
Comparing the 2017 tourist flows in the Castelnuovo Berardenga territory to those of the previous year, we see an increase in the number of arrivals from 45.313 to 57.517, (27% more), and presences increased from 142.190 to 165.598 (equal to over 16%). The average stay is around three days.
Castelnuovo has seen an increased number of Italian and foreign tourists, who have booked hotels and other facilities throughout the year, with significant peaks not only in the summer but also in spring and autumn.
“The winning choice, thanks to which last year we made it to the Trip Advisor’s Top Ten list – says mayor Fabrizio Nepi – has been to encourage off-peak tourism in our area. For several years we’ve been focusing on many important events that don’t happen in the summer, such as the Ecomaratona del Chianti, Chianti Festival, Dit’Unto, CastelnoVino, Calici di Stelle that liven up our area thanks to local associations”.
