Would you like to eat at a Michelin starred restaurant this Christmas and New Year’s Eve? You can, if you’re visiting the Chianti Classico region.

Where exactly will you find it? La Torre is the Michelin Starred restaurant, in the splendid Castello del Nero Hotel & Spa in Tavarnelle.

Here the executive chef Giovanni Luca Di Pirro has created two unique menus: one for Christmas Day, one for New Year’s Eve.

Let’s start with December 25th. The Christmas Menu (in brackets are the wines pairings recommended by the restaurant’s sommelier – the cost is 105 euros without the wines, 50 euros including the suggested wines).

Bianco e Nero, creamy cappuccino of potatoes and cuttlefish (Jesera – IGT 2016 Venica); Traditional cappelletti cooked in capon broth (Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi – Ris. DOC 2012 Az. Agr. Villa Bucci).

Turbot, artichokes, potatoes and mint (Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi – Riserva DOC 2012 Az. Agr. Villa Bucci); Duck with orange sauce, Home made honey, Celery, turnip and caramelized onion flan (Fornace – IGT 2012 Selvapiana); Chocolate ball filled with panettone ice cream, White chocolate, mango and almond sauce (Moscato di Pantelleria DOC Nes Passito 2013 Cantine Pellegrino); typical Christmas sweets: Ricciarelli, Panforte, Cantucci (Vin Santo of Chianti DOC Trecciano); mineral water and coffee.

New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner (in brackets the pairing wines recommended by the restaurant’s sommelier, 300 euros without wines, 50 euros including the suggested wines).

Welcome drink with warm and cold treats; Blue lobster, with Chianti wine sauce, cauliflower and mixed vegetables (Pinot Grigio IGT 2016 Cantine Terlan); Steamed mazzancolle (shrimp) with winter melon gazpacho, seared vegetables and crispy potatoes (Pinot Grigio IGT 2016 Cantine Terlan); “Gran Riserva” Carnaroli rice with Ferrari Lunelli Spumante accompanied by raw crustaceans (Friulano DOC Dolèe 2014 Vie di Romans).

Roasted turbot with garlic chicory, red shrimp with potato puree and topinambour (Friulano DOC Dolèe 2014 Vie di Romans); Beef fillet, pumpkin sauce, red cabbage and celery sauce (Summus IGT 2012 Castello Banfi); Caramel Bavarian cake, hazelnut praline cake, bright red chocolate icing and raspberry ice cream (Torcolato IGT 2011 Maculan); Assorted mini pastries. At midnight the traditional Tuscan cotechino with lentils will be served. Mineral water, coffee and biscuits, and a bottle of Spumante for the midnight toast.
