The change, which postpones the prohibition for 6 months, occurs after permission of the regional council, published on “Burt” on July 14, and entered into vigor the same day.

Specifically, the act modifies article 55 of the “Testo unico del sistema turistico regionale”; it is a modification made necessary because the deadline would have occured in the middle of the tourist season, causing damage to the operators who had already accepted reservation before the norm went into effect.

The modification also follows reports by the town administrations (Chianti was the first, hosting a meeting with the regional assesor of tourism), about the “risk of weakening the tourist/hospitality offering in diverse areas of Tuscany,” especially in those rural towns where the presence of other types of hospitality is less available and the activity of the “affittacamere” (room renters) represents a large part of the tourist offering in the areas.
