What is the objective of the initiative, “Badia a Passignano, between history and nature?”: to promote awareness of the “Area Naturale Protetta” (protected natural zone) of the 1000 year old Abbey of Badia a Passignano, its naturalistic treasures and historic and artistic heritage.

The event is promoted by the Town Union of Chianti Fiorentino in collaboration with the Achu archaeological group and the contribution of the museum system of Chianti and Valdarno Fiorentino. It will take place over two days. Sunday, November 6, it is open to the public. Monday, November 7, is reserved for tourist operators .

Both days will have the following program: “Badia a Passignano, between history and nature?”, guided tour of the Area Naturale Protetta of Badia a Passignano and its historic naturalistic qualities, from the monastery of the Abbey to the ancient village of Poggio al Vento. Meeting place: in the parking lot of Badia a Passignano. Length: 5 km; Uphill slant: 270 m; difficulty: medium; duration: two hours. Trekking shoes are recommended.

“The historic artistic Heritage of the Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo in Passignano”. 3:30 PM: guided visit of the Abbey, the renaissance cloister, the refectory with its “Last Supper” by Domenico Ghirlandaio, the Renaissance kitchen and Italian Garden:  Duration: one hour.
