“Chianti in Musica” has been gracing the suggestive village of San Donato in Poggio since 2006. This year, in occasion of the 300th anniversary of Chianti Classico, the program for Chianti in Musica will celebrate this milestone.

Adriana Armaroli, creator and founder of Chianti in Music (together with Marta Ceron), tells us: “Chianti in Musica was born by chance, for the pleasure of bringing some of my friends who are musicians, concert artists and famous educators to this beautiful Tuscan village. It was created through the desire to organize musical instrument courses and concerts for young musicians from all of Italy. Over the years, the event has expanded, the courses have increased, the concerts are daily and the fine welcome from the area has been transformed into a rapport of real affection and concrete support”.

“The pleaseure of making music together”, she continues, “and the magic of the village of San Donato in Poggio attracts well known faces every year. These mix with new presences, educators, San Donato natives and tourist, all with a passion for music, thus forming a very special community. The experience of Chianti in Musica becomes more intensely musical and human each time”.

In 2016, Chianti in Music confirms the formula that has brought the event this far: like every year, it will consist of courses for musical instruments and music, run by professors of national note: Lorenzo Missaglia, flute, Luca Avanzi, oboe, Carlo De Martini, violin, Maria Ronchini, viola, Martina Rudic, cello, Francesco Biraghi, guitar, Maria Grazia Bellocchio, piano and chamber music.

There will be musical happy hours and evening concerts. Every evening, starting on Sunday, July 24 at 6:30pm, the streets of San Donato in Poggio will be animated by musical happy hours, informal concerts by course students (free and open to the public), followed by tasting of Chianti wines. As always, the student concerts will take place at the Porta Fiorentina, according to the calendar.
