Tuscany is the third most popular Italian destination for visitors from India, with a strong demand for luxury and wedding tourism, but also for cities of art, shopping, food and wine experiences.

These were all the themes presented and promoted by Tuscany to over 70 between tour operators, journalists and airlines, by the director of Toscana Promozione Turistica Francesco Palumbo.

“The Indian outbound industry – says Palumbo – has shown a strong interest in Tuscany’s tourist offering, while in search of exclusive and high quality destinations. As regards to travelling, India is still a market that uses intermediaries: those who “buy Europe” do so booking mainly though Indian tour operators and agencies, as well as flag carriers flights. Hence our efforts to insert our Region in this commercial flow” .

In particular, four tourism products were promoted and highlighted in the presentation: the wedding sector with various meetings that Tuscany will organise in Delhi and Mumbai this June; luxury shopping and accommodation; thermal and wellness sector; food and wine tourism. In addition, there were talks with the Italian Cultural Institute in Delhi for an event dedicated to Michelangelo Buonarroti and his works.

Europe for Indian travellers usually means multiple destination: the trend is to spend a few nights in each spot to visit as many places as possible. Not so for the high end of that market, where tourists look for the more exclusive places.
