Every year on 13th August, just before the Ferragosto bank holiday, the San Cassiano Festival is held in San Casciano Val di Pesa.

By this date many local people are back from their holidays to take part in this traditional Festival dedicated to the town’s Patron Saint.

The festival has a religious meaning, and the rites actually start on 10th August, with the Holy Mass and the procession.

Then you have the traditional market in the gardens of Piazza della Repubblica (Piazzone) and in Viale Garibaldi. The spectacular fireworks, much-awaited by kids and adults alike, happen on the last evening.

Here’s the full program of the San Cassiano Festival 2018: in the Propositura, the main church of San Casciano in Piazza Cavour, on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th August at 8.30am and on Sunday 12th August at 11am, Holy Mass and devotional prayers in preparation for the festival.

On Sunday, August 12th at 6pm Holy Mass; from 7pm “Sagra di San Cassiano” in Piazza Cavour.

Monday, August 13th is the main day of the festival: Holy Mass at 8am and 11am; at 5.30pm Solemn Mass and procession through the streets of the town.

A market will be held in the Piazzone gardens and in Viale Garibaldi throughout the day; at 9.30pm – Concert of the “Oreste Carlini” Corpo Musicale brass band from San Casciano; final fireworks.
