A photographic exhibition dedicated to the ancient Via Romea Sanese, that from San Donato in Poggio arrives at Quercegrossa passing through Castellina in Chianti.

The exhibit, which opened on Saturday July 7th , brings together the photography of Andrea Rontini, from Castellina, all set up with the help of his wife Manuela.

The exhibition (held in via delle Volte) traces the ancient route that in the Middle Ages linked Florence to Siena crossing the Chianti area, and which was connected to the famous Francigena way.

Last winter the volunteers of the Salingolpe Archaeological Group, of the Football Club Castellina in Chianti and of Camminando A Quercegrossa cleaned with great passion and energy a long section of the path that was overgrown with vegetation, and the exhibition is a way to thank them and pay homage to them, with the support and patronage of the Municipality of Castellina in Chianti.

The photographer Andrea Rontini has shown his works in different parts of Italy, France, Germany and the United States and many of his shots are now part of private and public collections.

He has also published numerous photo books and won several awards over the years. To find out more about his work, visit www.andrearontini.it.
