Mercantiere: a summer rich with events in Mercatale

Mercatale is getting ready for a feast of events, from the recent Campionato della Bistecca (Steak Championship), to the traditional Feast of Santa Gennara on 23^rd July and the one for the Liberation of Mercatale on 25^th July. Finally, the tasty “dinner under the stars” will take place at the beginning of August.

Once again this year the Mercantiere d’Estate offers a range of events organized by the Pro Loco of San Casciano, with the contribution of ChiantiBanca and the patronage of the Municipality.

Wednesday, July 11^rd “Alice attraverso il Mercante in Fiera” childrens’ party. At 6pm puppet show, at 7pm games in the piazza, at 9pm Clownmania in piazza Vittorio Veneto.

Thursday, July 12^th “CircolinOlè”, music and flavours from Spain (from 8pm in the club Mcl Don Giovannni).

Friday, July 13^th the evening will be dedicated to the memory of father Ernesto Balducci: screening of the film “Pianeta Terra e casa comune”, and book launch of “Il futuro presente” (at 9.15pm).

Tuesday 17^th July: from 9.30pm “La briscola in piazza”, card games in the square; Wednesday 18^th July “Nuove Trasparenze” in concert.

On 20^th, 21^st and 22^nd July the Cava Wave is back at the sports field; Sunday, July 22^nd Solemn Vespers in occasion of the presentation of the new Santa Gennara icon (at 6pm); violin and piano concert will be held in the church from 9.15pm.

Monday 23^rd July: Solemn Vespers and Holy Mass on occasion of the festival in honour of the village’s patron saint: from 9am to 10pm there will be various shows in and around the town’s streets; at 11.15pm fireworks; at 6pm blessing of the village in the main church.

Wednesday, July 25^th: Mercatale Liberation Day, organised by ANPI in Piazza Vittorio Veneto.

Friday, August 3^rd: “Dinner Under the Stars”, organised by the Coop of Mercatale.
