It’s December, there’s a festive feel in the air, that we’ve been sensing for a while now. December is when winter officially begins, and also the month when the most beloved and popular holiday on the calendar is celebrated, Christmas.

Just over two months have passed since the end of the summer holidays and soon we’re going to take another break from studying and working. But the Christmas holidays are not the time for resting and recuperating; they’re days packed with activities and preparation to celebrate the most joyful and electrifying festivals of the year.

To better cope with the series of work dinners, aperitifs and long family lunches, we should try to do more physical activity (long walks are just perfect for beginners), and follow a fibre rich diet, eating more fruit and vegetables and reducing fatty foods, drinking plenty of water and, whenever possible, limiting alcohol.

It’s also important to go to bed early (that is when you are not having a night out) and to take care of your face, which is the mirror of our physical well-being.

A few simple habits will help you to have a healthy look. Before bedtime, it is essential to remove any make-up and thoroughly clean the skin before applying a cream to nourish the epidermis during the hours of sleep.

In the morning, after cleansing your face, apply a good protective cream as a basis for make-up and as a screen against cold and wind. It’s a good habit to do a face scrub at least every 10 days to remove dead cells and brighten the skin.

If you want to pamper yourself the best choice is surely to book a treatment with a professional beautician or a session in a health club. A beauty treatment voucher can also be a useful and original Christmas gift to give to a friend.
