June 23 to June 25 are the days of the “Sagra dell’Ortica” (Nettle Festival). After the success of previous years, the Sagra dell’Ortica returns to Sambuca (Tavarnelle).
Nettle is in the center of the food event. From its stinging leaves, we derive a food delicacy when the plant is cooked by Sambuca experts.
The program set up by the Pro Loco of Sambuca, organizer together with the patronage of the Township of Tavarnelle, is as follows: Friday, June 23, starting at 7 PM – food stand with nettle specialties and grilled meat; 9 PM, Schiuma Party with DJ Gutyerrez Sanchez.
Saturday, June 24, from noon to 2:30 PM – food stand with nettle specialties and grilled meat; at 5 PM, beginning of district competition; at 7 PM, the food stand reopens; at 9 PM, fashion show by the stores, Cuori di Pezza” and “Mary Poppins”.
Sunday, June 25, from 9 AM to 8 PM, market craft show -typical products and antiques; from 10 AM to 8 PM free painting and exhibition for all; from noon to 2:30 PM, opening of the food stand; at 4 PM, “I Colori e la Pelle – Body Painting in Chianti”; at 4 PM, beginning of district competition; at 6 PM, prizes; 7 PM, food stand with nettle specialties and grilled meat; 9 PM “Quasi Uguale Show”.
The Bar dei Rioni will be open during the festival with aperitifs, panini, desserts and gelato.
