In Pianella, a suburb of Castelnuovo Berardenga, an area dedicated to local products has been reopened. The initiative started a few years ago with the support of the town administration.

It began in relation to a project promoted by the Tuscan Region regarding local products and was restarted after a period of suspension, thanks to the new management of the farm, “Il Casone di San Rocco a Pilli”, in the township of Sovicille.

The new management will offer fruit, vegetables and legumes of their own production. Other products will be offered by 13 producers of the territory, including Asciano, Castelnuovo Berardenga and Sovicille.

The space is located in Piazza Jan Palach and is opened every day, Monday to Saturday, from 9 AM to 1 PM and from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM, with a varied offer of genuine and seasonal products; from fruit to vegetables and legumes, from wine to olive oil, from fresh milk to cheese, from meats to cold cuts, not to mention bread, jams and other products.

“The Town Administration of Castelnuovo Berardenga,” comments Mauro Giannetti, assessor delegated to productive and rural activities, “welcomes the reopening of the space dedicated to 0 km products. The initiative offers the community of Pianella and all who want to take advantage, a selling point for local products, and a renewed relationship between producer and consumer, based on seasonality and quality”.

“This inititiative,” concludes Giannetti, “reinforces the town’s commitment to attract 0 km producers during the weekly market every Thursday in piazza Marconi in Castelnovo Berardenga, for a continuosly wider and more varied offer”.
