The FISAR (Federation of Italian Sommeliers, Hotel and Hospitality Workers), registered a huge success for sommelier courses in Greve in Chianti and in Florence.

FISAR has been operating in the territory for a year and a half. “The response, in terms of interest”, says the Association, “on the part of the circuit operators tied to the world of wine (personnel from wineries, restaurant workers, hospitality, tourist guides), was extremely high. The March program is almost full already!”.

Today the sommelier is not only responsible for managing wine in a restaurant, but is much more. He is a communicator in the ring that connects the producer to the consumer.

The course is also open to those who do not work in the sector but are passionate about wine. There are only a few places left in the first level course in Greve a Chianti (from March 14 to June 13, every Tuesday from 9 PM to midnight at the Enoteca Falorni): there are some more spaces in Florence, in Neighborhood 4, Firenze Sud and Downtown Firenze. The formation of the courses are distributed on three levels.

The first level covers the technique of wine tasting and the principles of viticulture and oenology, the various typologies of wine and some hints about the distilling of beer.

The second level is based on “oenography”, the wine producing zones in Italy and abroad.

The third level discusses the technique of food and wine pairing. Once the three-courses are finished it is possible to take the exam and receive the qualification of “sommelier”.
