The 300 year anniversary of an edict by Cosimo III de’ Medici is enjoying the last weeks of celebration. The document outlined the area of the production of what is today Chianti Classico.

On December 3 and 4 there will be an area in the “Mercato del Campo” in Siena entirely dedicated to the Gallo Nero brand. November 22nd marked a prestigious acknowledgment for the Consortium and the entire denomination, when the US Consolate in Florence organized an afternoon celebrating Gallo Nero in honor of celebrations for Thanksgiving day, Thursday, November 24.

The Consul General, Abigail Rupp, led the festivities and remembered the American tradition of Thanksgiving and the important tie between Florence, Italy and the United States of America, which, she said “I hope becomes always stronger and more concrete over the coming years”.

The Assessor for Economic Development of Florence, Giovanni Bettarini remarked: “We are proud and honored to greet hundreds of thousands of American tourists every year. they represent a type of tourism that wants to understand and become familiar with the city instead of taking a peek and leaving”.

Sebastiano Capponi, Vice President of the Consortium of Chianti Classico wine and owner of Villa Calcinaia in Greve in Chianti concluded: “This is a beautiful occasion”, he said, raising his glass together with the many guests, among which many Chianti Classico producers, “for toasting a great nation and, if you will permit me, a great denomination”.
