A Christmas atmosphere, with lights and decorations which will soon light up the towns and villages of the countryside, is warming up in Chianti.

Through an original project dedicated to the man most loved by children, he will make a voyage around the towns of Tavarnelle and Barberino for the first time.

A grand party is ready to greet the crowd, perhaps aboard a rally car with a grandfather dressed up in red at the wheel. The collaboration between the two towns has created a program of Christmas events, from the ice rink in Piazza Matteotti, heart of Tavarnelle, to the village of Santa Claus which will animate the streets of the Barberino Val d’Elsa castle.

It hopes to celebrate a family Christmas in the united and vital community. A preview, made up of tastes, color and music begins with a program Sunday, December 4, in Piazza Barberini from 10 AM to 7 PM.

It is called “Mercatini di Solidarieta”, organized with the associations from the territory. The program begins with the key event: the setting up of a large ice rink in Piazza Matteotti in Tavarnelle dedicated to fun for large and small.  The inauguration is called for Thursday, December 8, with a dance show and will be open until early 2017.

“The enchantment of Christmas in Chianti is an occasion to celebrate together”, comment the assessors of productive activities and tourism of Barberino and Tavarnelle, Cristina Pratesi and Davide Venturini. “The list of events will spread over the holiday, with increased tourist, commercial, and social attractions in our area, offering entertainment and, fun, and valorizing our piazzas for all ages. The ice rink and Christmas village are the most representative proposals in our promotional strategy aimed towards families”.

Saturday, December 10, in Barberino, animation in the center of town lights up with ”Intorno al rally”. There will be various events; music, dance, and a play area for children centered on the theme, “macchine e motori”, cars and motors.

The combined Tavarnelle/Barberino Christmas continues on Sunday, 11, in Tavarnelle; “Formula Chianti”, with more markets promoting typical products reserved, for local businesses and animated events dedicated to the children. Another event not to be missed will take place on December 18 in Barberino. The entire village will be “Lapponia in Chianti” for one day.

Streets and piazzas will be covered in snow and decorated for the occasion. It will emulate the birthplace of Santa Claus. There will be music, songs and Christmas markets and a wooden house where children can consign their letters to “Babbo Natale”.
