The patron Saint (Saint Fausto) of Castellina in Chianti will be celebrated for five days with rediscovered traditions, music and animation.

The program is for Wednesday, September 7, to Sunday, September 11, promoted with the patronage and contribution of the town administration of the Bank of Cambiano.

Celebrations will begin on Wednesday, September 7, with the feast of the “Rificolona” (colored lanterns), accompanied by the Philharmonic of Castellina in Chianti, in honor of the birth of Maria, From Thursday, September 8, till Saturday, September 10 there will be the ”Triduo” of Saint Fausto, with Holy Mass at 6 PM in the church of the “Santissimo Salvatore” (Holy Savior).

Closing day of the celebrations will be on Sunday, September 11. Starting at 9:30 AM the streets of the town will be animated with the exhibition of vintage, Grand tourism, and competitive historic autos, in collaboration with Chianti 500.

At 11 AM, there will be a mass in the Church of  the “Santissimo Salvatore”, accompanied by the Schola Cantorum of Castellina in Chianti. The program will continue in the afternoon, starting at 3 PM,  in Piazza del Comune, with the first annual tournament of Human Calcio Balilla.

This will be followed at 5:30 PM by the traditional blessing of the Saint’s urn in the church’s schoolyard. This event is particularly adapted to young children. The return of the antique tradition will be accompanied by the Philharmonic of Castellina in Chianti and followed by the awarding of the winners of the “Balilla” tournament.

Closing the celebrations, will be the concert of the chorus “Clara Harmonia”,  entitled ”Armonie dalle terre vicine e lontane” (Harmonies of the earth, near and far), programmed for 9:30 PM in the Church of the “Santissimo Salvatore” and directed by Tanja Kustrin.
