Sunday the 22nd of May the Associazione Tumori Toscana A.T.T. (the Cancer Association of Tuscany) organizes a guided tour to the Monastery of Badia a Passignano.
It will be possible to admire the fresco of l’Ultima Cena (Last Dinner) by Ghirlandaio in 1476. An extraordinary work that after thirteen years of restoration has regained all its splendor and it is available again for admiration since a few months in the refectory of Badia di San Michele Arcangelo a Passignano, dominated by two beautiful lunettes by Bernardo Rosselli.
However Badia a Passignano is not only the Cenacolo of Ghirlandaio. Perched on a natural balcony, spectacularly overlooking Chianti, the monastery is an outstanding example of a fortified abbey and during the visit it will be possible to visit the abbey church with its precious choir, cloister and old kitchen with a monumental fireplace and ancient furnishings. In the beautiful garden an impressive Medieval corner will be recreated with music and food stands with typical products.
Tour times 15:30 to 16:30. Leaving every 30 minutes. Minimum offer 10 euros. The funds collected will be donated to A.T.T. in support of the Cure Domiciliari Oncologiche ( Oncological cure at home) ,free service since 1999 for people with cancer in Tuscany.
