In 2020 Coldiretti estimates a reduction of 24 billion in “table spending” in Italy.
But also a widespread difficulty in agri-food exports which have often led to an increase in inventories that can now be given as guarantees to allow the crisis to be overcome.
Meanwhile, the latest figures are not encouraging.
“Sales of Italian wine in the world – says Coldiretti – are down by 4% in 2020 with a historic turnaround that is unprecedented in the last 30 years due to the difficulties experienced by catering around the world for the Coronavirus emergency “.
This is what emerges from an analysis by Coldiretti based on Istat data relating to the first five months of the year at the Cibus Forum, which shows that wine nevertheless remains the main item of “made in Italy” agri-food exports.
“Italy – concludes Coldiretti – is the European leader in quality agri-food with 305 specialties with geographical indication recognized at community level and 415 Doc / Docg wines, 5155 traditional regional products registered along the Peninsula that develop a value of 16 billion EUR”.
