“La Pietra Relais di Charme” will be the name for the new hospitality establishment of the Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari Tenute, which will be built in Greve in Chianti, in the heart of the Tenute del Cabreo.

It will join the Borgo del Cabreo Relais di Charme, inaugurated in the Spring 2017, that has been having great success among international clients.

The two names chosen – “La Pietra” and “Il Borgo” – are connected to the two wines that are part of the Linea del Cabreo: La Pietra Chardonnay Igt Toscana and Cabreo Il Borgo Toscana Igt.

“The new Relais – they say at Folonari – will see the light after a complex restoration of the ancient rural settlement called La Croce, which is located right in the heart of the vineyard. This will be part of a great project that breath new life into this territory and its more authentic traditions. Since the beginning of the 2000s the Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari Tenute company has in fact chosen the Tuscan territory, investing in their five wine estates – located in DOC and DOCG wine production areas – focusing on the quality of the wines and the restoration of their properties”.

The inauguration of La Pietra Relais di Charme, for which an investment of approximately 3 million euros will be allocated, is scheduled for the spring of 2021.

“The Relais – they tell us – will be built respecting the surrounding landscape, keeping as many of the original parts of the building as possible, and reusing the original construction materials. For its construction only the best local craftsmen will be employed, heirs of the great Florentine artisan tradition”.

The restructuring of the real estate assets will be flanked by the expansions work of the vineyards in the five estates owned by the company, where the company invests a total of around 1 million euros per year.

“Specifically in Greve in Chianti – concludes Folonari – at the “Tenuta di Nozzole”, we’ve built new Sangiovese plantings for a total of 5 hectares. In Bolgheri, at the “Tenuta di Campo al Mare” estate, we’ve planted 3 hectares of Cabernets Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon and 1.2 hectares of Vermentino “.

“These new investments in the buildings’ restoration and the expansion of the vineyards, inaugurate a second phase of our 360 ° renovation project, which we launched at the beginning of the 2000s – says President Giovanni Folonari. We approach this new phase with enthusiasm, thanks to the contribution of the whole family and the work team that we’ve put together”.
