“Music is a feeling that rises from the soul, an instrument that allows us to express and share the best part of ourselves”.

These are the words of musician Sebastiano Renna, who lives in the hamlet of Morrocco, in the Barberino Tavarnelle Municipality. He’s inaugurating a new phase in the life of the ‘Amici della Musica’ Association, of which he took the reins a few months ago, succeeding Professor Giuseppe Garro, who was at the helm of the association for about 40 years.

“Festival di Pentecoste” is a Chianti music festival that will take place in Badia a Passignano this Summer, mixing music, art and spirituality.

The four concerts are scheduled from June 2nd to 16th. Various musical masterpieces – composed between the 17th and 20th centuries – will echo in the ancient Abbey of St. Michele Arcangelo, in the Sala del Cenacolo frescoed by Domenico Ghirlandaio in 1476.

The aim is to enhance the expressive power of classical and chamber music in an extraordinary setting. A place of faith, with a unique atmosphere, that combines culture, history and beauty.

The artistic direction is entrusted to the Maestro Tiziano Mealli, who has put together a top quality program, with the participation of internationally renowned Italian and foreign musicians.

The heart of the event is once again the musical sensibility carried out over the years by the Amici della Musica Association. The initiative boasts the patronage of the Unione Comunale del Chianti Fiorentino, the Regione Toscana and the Città Metropolitana.

The program

First guests, on Sunday 2nd June, were the musicians of the Quartetto di Venezia; Monday 3rd June was the turn of the violinist Francesca Diego.

The last appointment is scheduled for Sunday, June 16th and stages an unmissable performance by the duet Laura Polverelli, accompanied on the piano by Matteo Fossi. The Festival will end on the notes of Mahler and Debussy.
