A long weekend dedicated to the products of the Chianti, one of the world’s most famous wine regions. Come and discover its history, its glorious landscapes, its music and delicious haute cuisine, and see how beautiful the Chianti is in spring.

The “Pentecoste a Castellina”, one of the historical events of the Gallo Nero territory is back, offering visitors a unique opportunity not only to savour its excellent Chianti Classico wines, but also to experience the “good life” that has made the Chianti region famous worldwide.

The event, which has reached its 22nd edition, is organized as always by the Associazione Viticoltori (Winemakers Association) of Castellina in Chianti, in collaboration with the Municipality of Castellina in Chianti and the Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico.

It will take place from May 18th to 20th in Castellina’s most evocative spots: from the Medieval walkway via delle Volte, to Piazza del Comune, including the Casa dei Progetti and the Archaeological Museum.

Pentecost in Castellina in Chianti starts on Friday May 18th with the traditional “A cena con il Classico” (Dinner with the Chianti Classico wine) organised by the restaurant Albergaccio di Castellina (8pm, via delle Volte).

The dinner will be preceded by a round table entitled “Distretto Rurale del Chianti: quali prospettive?” (Chianti Rural District’s projects) at 5pm, Casa dei Progetti.

The director of the Chianti Classico Wine Consortium, Carlotta Gori, together with Marcello Bonechi, Mayor of Castellina in Chianti, will illustrate to the local wine producers and anybody interested, an important project that has now become reality.

On Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th May you can immerse yourself in the flavours and aromas of the Gallo Nero wines, with 32 wine producers from Castellina in Chianti offering their excellent products for tasting from 3pm to 8pm, in via delle Volte.

Among the various entertainment, kids can take part in the “Gymkhana” on Saturday 19th May: the children will be divided into three categories – chicks, cockerels and black roosters – to engage in the Pentecost Gymkhana (at 4pm, Piazza del Comune).

The painting competition “Castellina in Chianti: andare per vigne” is dedicated to older children: the best work will be used as a poster for next year’s event “Pentecoste in Castellina in Chianti 2019”.

Finally, on Sunday 20th May, the unmissable “Mangiaggiro in the Chianti Classico”: a food & wine tour of the Castellina in Chianti vineyards (upon reservation).

Music will also be a part of the festival, starting with the parade of the Castellina in Chianti Philharmonic (Saturday 19th) and the Abbey Road Dixie Band which will bring their lively music to the town historic centre on Sunday 20th May.

On Sunday, May 20th you’ll also find a market, mainly dedicated to local food and wine.
