Wine, food, music and a splendid location made for a successful mix at the 5th edtion of Castelnovino.

“We wanted this event to tell the story of Castelnuovo and its territory without being too formal,” says the mayor, Fabrizio Nepi. “I would like to think of Castelnovino as an event for locals and foreigners to enjoy our excellent products in a relaxing context, in a jovial climate of early summer”.

And seeing the result, the objective was surely reached. With the suggestive background of Villa Chigi Saracini, magnificently illuminated, among musical groups and food and wine stands, it was impossible to be bored.

“The event is growing,” continues the mayor, “and this year around 1000 glasses were sold, an important number”.

Lawrence Cronin, oenologist for the Tenuta di Arceno, one of the 18 participating wineries, tells us that the festival was a success: “I am here at my stand with my wife, son and mother who came from California! I am very happy about how the day went, and I believe that this place makes everything more fascinating. Villa Chigi by night is beautiful”.

The same thing goes for Michele Osini, who explains while pouring us a glass and explaining the characteristics of Fèlsina wines: “I think that a space so large allows us to enjoy the fair without the hurry and anxiety which often characterizes these events”.

The organizers are very proud of this victory. “Villa Chigi is fantastic but not used enough. We are really proud to be able to re-present this event here. My motto is….write it….‘VivalaVillaviva!’”. So tells us Fosco Vivi, one of the main promoters of Castelnovino.

To make this evening even more attractive, in addition to the exhibitions by the graduates of the Conservatorio Rinaldo Franci, the excellent wines and fantastic food, was the showing of works of art among the stands and the stands which accompanied the visitors from one tasting to another.

A note of merit also goes to the projection in the courtyard of  “Castelnuovo incontra il cielo” (Castelnuovo meets the sky), by the director Michele Rosania, produced by a drone flying over Castelnuovo and its fascinating countryside.

This is the countryside where Chianti Classico meets the land whose fruits were fully enjoyed by the participants of this edition of Castelnovino.
