The town theatre, “Vittorio Alfieri”, of Castelnuovo Berardenga, has been experiencing a crescendo of activities, initiatives and cultural projects involving more than 8.000 people a year.
This is the situation according to the theater and the association, Lo Stanzone delle Apparizioni, which has been managing and coordinating the various activities since 1996: from the theatre season to the literary evenings, from theatre workshops for children,in collaboration with the Association,”I topi dalmata”, to the music courses by the cultural Association, “Pietro Guideri”, and the dance courses held by the A.s.d., “Le Calcinaie”.
These are activities which animate the town theater, where the Motus, Egumteatro and Ensarte Associations, with lessons, recitals, and initiatives which have an ever increasing attendance, also have their artistic residence, to people of all ages to participate in various artistic activities.
“The Vittorio Alfieri Theatre”, explains Fabrizio Nepi, mayor of Castelnuovo Berardenga, “represents a very important cultural reality for our territory and Siena’s, and has been able to consolidate thanks to the precious work done by the “Stanzone delle Apparizioni”, which I thank for their daily and constant commitment. The promotion of culture, in every form, is fundamental to the growth of the community and our town administration has invested in energy and resources in this direction from the beginning. The numerous initiatives that animate our territory throughout the year confirms this. The theater has been improved inside and out. Since 2014, it has a new look, rendering it more modern and welcoming”.
“It is a commitment to continue to contribute to the growth of the community, and in particular, to its youth”, says Annalisa Giovani, Cultural Assessor of Castelnuovo Berardenga “The theater, In fact, is a meeting place across generations and diverse cultures and represents a space of permanent training which, in small cities like ours, as opposed to the large cities, is a wonderful social and cultural opportunity”.
“The growth of the theater and its cultural activities”, adds Matteo Marsan, Artistic Director of Teatro for Lo Stanzone delle Apparizioni, “can be told by the numbers, starting with those from the last few months. During the theater season of 2015 to 2016 there were 118 subscribers, a net increase in respect to the eight subscribers of 1996, the year in which our association took over management. These shows have registered a median of 150 people out of the 220 available seats, and often the quality of the offering has sold out shows. Participation in theatre workshops promoted together with the actress, Daniela Morozzi, are in constant growth and many area children participate. These activities are joined by associations and schools of dance and theater, both local and from Siena, which continuously use our spaces for lessons, shows, and other initiatives”.
“It is a varied panorama”, concludes Marsan, “which reflects the social and cultural value of the theater, recognized by the town administration as well by helping to improve the structure. A growing interest by the “Fondazione Toscana Spettacolo” has also helped, with a continuously stronger support for our theatre season and other cultural initiatives. These are very positive results which stimulate the proposition of new initiatives and activities which will go into the next theatre season, starting at the end of November”.
