In the magical context of the piazza of Greve in Chianti, we see smiling and satisfied faces at the 46th edition of the Chianti Classico Expo.

Between one goblet and another, the tourists stop at every stand; to taste, looking for a product that they appreciate… more and more with every sip. They often buy the wine when they return home.

Thus, in the lively and vivacious comings and goings of this Friday afternoon, we at WeChianti stop and asked them to tell us a little bit about themselves and about their experience here. Here we are “live”.

Malcolm and Catherine, two California cousins, begin their story .”We are here on vacation with family and friends. We will be in Tuscany for 10 days, and a total of three weeks in Italy. We are lodged in Barberino Val d’Elsa, and have visited Siena, Florence, Volterra, and San Gimignano”.

“This is our first day in Greve”, they tell us. “The Expo is very interesting. We like wine very much. In fact, we own a winery in California and are taking this occasion to learn something new and to bring it home”.

“We have come to Chianti for two days,” tell us Cecilia and b, a couple from the province of Grosseto. “We are going around various wine cellars. We have a tour of Radda programmed and have visited Castellina, Gaiole and the Fonterutoli Castle”.

They continue: “We came upon the Expo by chance. We took advantage of the situation and ate here and drank a glass of wine. Everyone is kind and professional. They care about having us try their products. We are lovers of red wine and adore Riserva”.

Cary, Rick, Liza, Caron and Denise tell their story. “We are originally from New Zealand and Australia and are staying in Italy for two months. It is Chianti’s turn, a beautiful territory  with adorable people and exquisite food. We knew about the event,” adds the family group.

“We think that it is very well organized. The producers transmit their love for their work and their land. In addition, they speak excellent English”.

We then interviewed Nancy from Arizona and Brenda from California, who met each other a few days ago in Pisa. We just arrived in Chianti and the wine event was a pleasant surprise. While we are walking, (trekking is our passion), we do our tasting.” Our very favorite wine is Chianti Classico”, they end, toasting.

“It is difficult to find Sangiovese where we live. Now we are going to buy a bunch of bottles and let our friends and relatives taste the flavors of Chianti”.
