There is an incredible observation point from which, on a clear day, it is possible to see from Arezzo to Florence.

It is next to a suggestive steel cross, visible to the fortunate who arrive at the top. It is here that the beautiful naturalistic path of Poggio Citerna will be inaugurated in the Poggio alla Croce area on July 3.

Authorities of the townships of Greve and Figline Incisa Valdarno, who collaborated for the realization of the project, will be present. This is a clear demonstration of the attention given after the request of local communities to clean up the area.

We spoke with the agronomist of Figline and Incisa Valdarno, Lorenzo Venturi: “The volunteers of the SMS Club of Poggio alla Croce expressed the desire to clean up an existing path in order to give value to the route that leads to the beloved cross on top of the knoll”.

He tells us that “the two administrations thus collaborated and opened up an old path, modifying it for all those who wanted to take it”.

“Along the route”, he continues, “have been positioned panels which give information about the fauna and the territory. An old steel cross was also restructured”.

This project has an added social value, besides the environmental-naturalistic, for the zone and its inhabitants. It falls within a wider project that will interest student who will take excursions along the path.

“The help of volunteers of the club during the months of work was exceptional. The group is already known for its activity in the area”, concludes Venturi.
