On March Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th it renews the appointment with the “Sweet croquettes Festival“, traditional event that annually attracts hundreds of visitors to the Castle of Montefioralle.

The event arrives at the 47th edition (in the gallery some pictures of 2015 edition taken by Bruno Pedani) and is organized by the active Tourist Committee of Montefioralle in collaboration with Greve in Chianti Municipality.

The “Frittelle of San Giuseppe” respect the old recipe of the peasant housewives. Are sweet croquettes made by rice cooked in milk, flavored, mixed with eggs and fried in tuscan extra virgin olive oil. Are real tasty “nugget”, with the unmistakable but light fragrance of orange blossoms, soft and warm rice inside, golden outside and fried in the huge frying pan.

Saturday and Sunday the croquettes will be fried in the main square of Montefioralle in the giant frying pan, two meters in diameter.

The beginning of the event is fixed for 11.00 am on Saturday the 19th with the lighting of the cauldron and the distribution of sweet croquettes accompained by wine and vinsanto Chianti Classico. The stands will be open until 6.00pm. Sunday the 20th the stands will be open from 10.00 am to 6.00pm, at 3.00pm there will be the street band “Attraroba” live music show.

On Sunday during the festival, to make easier the arrival of visitors, there will be available a free shuttle service, every 30 minutes, from Piazza Trento in Greve in Chianti with a stop to the tabernacle of Saint Anna.
