For the ninth consecutive year, the Il Magnifico Award ceremony, European Extra Quality Olive Oil Award, crowned the best oil in Europe.
Il Magnifico 2021, which is the best oil on the market for quality, excellence and potential for impact on the market, is “Mimì” from the Apulian farm Donato Conserva.
Mimì oil is the blend that is created each year by selecting the olives from the 24,000 plants on 80 hectares of land of the Donato Conserva farm.
“Mimì” wins the 2021 oil oscar by competing with the other 11 oils of Italian companies that reached the final: Fonte di Foiano 1979; Viride of Marsicani; Hydra of Fattoria Ambrosio; Superbo by Americo Quattrociocchi; Extremum by Paolo Cassini; Oro Di Rufolo, Coratina of the Az. Agr. Ortoplant; 100% Italian by Dievole; Bell’omio Bio by Agrestis; Villa Magra Grand Cru of Frantoio Franci; Aromatica by Giacomo Grassi; Don Gioacchino by Sabino Leone.
The awards ceremony, held on Friday 14 May at the Abbey of Badia a Passignano (Barberino Tavarnelle), also crowned the oil revelation of the year, the Moraiolo Cultivar of Fattoria Ramerino, winner of the “Oil Revelation of The Year 2021” award.
In Tuscany, Dievole’s Tocca Stelle stood out, winning “Il Magnifico DOP Chianti Classico 2021”, an award created in collaboration with the Consorzio Chianti Olio DOP Chianti Classico, and the agr.
Reto di Montisoni, wins with the Organic Tuscan IGP Label of “Il Magnifico Toscano IGP 2020”, an award created in collaboration with the Consortium for the protection of Tuscan IGP Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
The “Massimo Pasquini Award” – 2021 Oil Personage Award was given to Claudio Bisio, passionate producer of his “Bisunto”, an excellent extra virgin olive oil produced in the Chianti area, for himself and his family.
The “Marco Mugelli Award” – Lifetime Achievement Award 2020 to Salvatore Stallone, founder of the Le Tre Colonne company, which for over three generations has been producing high quality oil based on a working philosophy that hinges on tradition, taste and genuineness, three supporting columns of the Stallone family.
EQOO Ambassador to the master pizza maker Tommaso Vatti, owner of the pizzeria “la Pergola di Radicondoli since 1998” for his passion and constant commitment to the enhancement of green gold that he skilfully combines with the pizzas he designed for the customers of his restaurant .
