The Michelin Guide has recently, from the stage of the Teatro Regio in Parma, announced to the international food industry, its “Italian” excellence.
The stars awarded to Italy in 2018 are 356 in total: 9 restaurants received three stars (one more than last year); 41 received two stars (3 more than last year); and 316 were awarded one star (22 more than last year).
In Tuscany there are 35 Michelin starred restaurants: the only 3-star is Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence. Four 2-star restaurants: Bracali (Ghirlanda, near Massa Marittima); Caino (Montemerano); Piccolo Principe (Viareggio); Arnolfo (Colle Val d’Elsa).
Thirty Tuscan restaurants received 1 Michelin star, and now we have a look at those in the Chianti Classico region. There’s one new entry and a few establishments have had their stars reconfirmed.
La Torre in Tavarnelle, the restaurant of the Castello del Nero Hotel & Spa, masterfully managed by the executive chef Giovanni Luca Di Pirro: maximum respect for local and regional products, impeccable service, research and innovation in the dishes.
We find another starred-restaurant in the municipality of Tavarnelle, in the wonderful setting of Badia a Passignano: the Osteria di Passignano, founded by Marcello Crini and Allegra Antinori in 2000. The chef is Nicola Damiani.
In the Chianti Classico of Siena province, we find three restaurants awarded with 1 Michelin star.
Two are confirmations: La Bottega del 30, in Villa a Sesta, the world of Helene Stoquelet and her fantastic team, and Il Pievano, restaurant of the Castello di Spaltenna (Gaiole in Chianti), with the executive chef Vincenzo Guarino, who has also made it a central point of “Dining with the Stars”, the events that attract a fair share of “stars”.
Finally, in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, we find a new star that shines on this year’s edition of the Michelin Guide: the Poggio Rosso, the restaurant of the Hotel Borgo San Felice, with its executive chef Fabrizio Borraccino.
“We’re very proud of this recognition – we read in a brief note – thanks to all who contributed to this success. And special thanks to our guests who accompany us on this journey!”.
