The “Movimento Turismo del Vino Toscana” (Tuscan Wine Tourist Movement) joins the nation with the project, “MTV for Amatrice”, the fundraiser which begins with “Cantine Aperte in Vendemmia” (Open wine cellars during harvest), and ends in May, 2017 with the traditional appointment with “Cantine Aperte” (Open Cellars).

In all of the coming events of MTV Tuscany, a portion of the proceeds from the visits, wine tastings, and direct wine sales, will be donated to Amatrice. In the weeks to come the president of the MTV, Carlo Pietrasanta, will meet the Mayor of Amatrice to define which initiatives and projects to initiate to be able to help the people hit by the earthquake.

“The cellars which participate agree with the spirit of our association, and so we decided to launch a message and an action to gather funds for those in need at this moment,” explains the president of MTV Toscana, Violante Gardini, “and it will be possible for wine lovers to contribute to this fundraising campaign, beginning with participation in the currently programmed events and for the entire year”.

Once again, wine will be an instrument of good, starting with the coming appointment, Open Cellars, scheduled in Tuscany for the weekend of September 17 and 18. There are 20 wine making companies which have decided to open their doors to wine lovers, proposing various types of activities.

These include trekking in the vineyards to learn how to harvest a bunch of grapes, guided wine cellar visits to see preparations for the new vintage, as well as the traditional wine harvestors’ lunch. It will be possible to taste the wine must in fermentation and to stamp the grapes.

There will also be many activities for the little ones, who will be able to become harvesters for a day. This is a new and fun way to discover the wine cellars, among the vats in fermentation and the wine barrels, or in the middle of the rows of grapes, which in this period are animated in true celebration.
