This Saturday, July 9 in Strada in Chianti, “Dalla spiga al….piatto” (From a sheaf of wheat to the table) will take place in one of the Chianti areas where the cultivation of wheat has been going on for centuries.

It is a day dedicated to knowledge and taste, to be enjoyed by big and small. It includes a convention, a pasta tasting, gadgets for the children, a market, food stands, music and Tuscan folk songs.

At 10am, at the farm stay, Villa il Leccio: the convention, “La Pasta e le intolleranze al glutine” (pasta and gluten intollerance) where many topics of interest tied to grain and pasta production will be discussed.

Thanks to the four speakers, we will find out about farm food production,varieties of antique and modern grians, new flours and semolina, causes of gluten intolerance, and how to produce artisianal  pasta while respecting raw materials and the finished product.

At 1pm: “Assaggi di pasta” (pasta tasting), held by the Pastificio Artigianale Fabbri (Fabbri artisanal pasta) and the Association of Florentine cooks (reservations are required call Giovanni at 3356313878 or Massimo at 3334516379 or send an email to info@pastafabbri.it).

At 5:30 pm in Piazza Landi: activities for big and small; pasta workshop for children, grain threshing by hand, and the exhibit of farm agricultural vehicles. From 6pm till 9pm: Tuscan music and folk songs with the group, Gli Amici di’ Chianti, a market, and a dinner, ”A tutta pasta”, with food stands of antipasto and pasta dishes run by the Pro Loo of Strada in Chianti and the Township of Greve in Chianti.
