After the “Giro d’Italia” bike race, with the Chianti Classico Stage of May 15, grand cycling continues to travel the roads of the Chianti territory.

On Sunday, May 29, the 63rd edition of the Trofeo (trophy) Matteotti in Marcialla, the 41st Olearia Valpesana Trophy (prestigious national cycling race for the elite under 23), will take place. The race will be run along the road from Marcialla and will end around 5pm in piazza Brandi.

The itinerary, by tradition, is held along 150 km and foresees the historic G.p.m. at Barberino val d’Elsa and at Bivio Canaglia.

It is an historic race thanks to its long history, for the difficulty and beauty of the itinerary and for the list of participants. We recall the placement of great cyclists like Paolo Bettini, Marco Pantani, Giovanni Visconti, Richie Porte and others.

“It is an important day for sports fans of the zone, especially the older ones, and for the volunteer organizers captained by Armando Nesi“, says the mayor of Barberino Val d’Elsa, Giacomo Trentanovi. “We invite all to enjoy this beautiful day of cycling at Marcialla. The Matteotti Trophy is a sports and social point of reference at the national level”.
