From 2 June to 29 July, in the millenary setting of the Abbey of Badia a Passignano, the international Pentecost Festival is back.
Four concerts in the “Last Supper room” frescoed by Domenico Ghirlandaio, with the participation of well-known musical groups and leading artists on the international scene.
These are the salient aspects that revolve around the historic fulcrum of the event, organized thanks to the artistic sensitivity of the Amici della Musica di Tavarnelle association and the collaboration path activated with the monastic community of Badia a Passignano.
Thirty-six years of notes celebrated in the cradle of Renaissance art revive the musical season of Barberino Tavarnelle in a summer version.
Which consists of the cycle of appointments of the Pentecost Festival and the three concerts of the Tuscan Regional Orchestra, the latter scheduled from 8 July to 5 August, promoted by the Municipality and organized by the Amici della Musica di Tavarnelle association.
The initiatives are carried out with the patronage of the Tuscany Region and the Metropolitan City of Florence and the contribution of ChiantiBanca.
THE PROGRAM
Pentecost Festival
The 36th Pentecost Festival opens on Thursday 2 June with the concert of the Adorno Quartet, consisting of Edoardo Zosi and Liù Pelliciari on the violin, Benedetta Bucci on the viola and Stefano Cerrato on the cello.
The ensemble will recall some of the most beautiful pages of Beethoven’s compositional writing.
The concerts will continue on Saturday 11 June with the double bass by Patrick Suskind as protagonist.
On the stage of Badia a Passignano Paolo Hendel will alternate, as narrator, Gabriele Ragghianti on double bass and Tiziano Mealli on piano.
The repertoire chosen for the evening will echo some of the most prestigious pages of Bach, Paganini, Saint-Saëns, Mozart, Bottesini, Garzya.
The third appointment is scheduled for Saturday 25 June with Maurizio Baglini who will perform Beethoven’s music on the piano.
The appointment that concludes the review on the notes of Mozart is the one scheduled for Friday 29 July with Francesca Dego on the violin, Timothy Ridout on the viola, Laura Van der Heijden on the cello and Federico Colli on the piano.
Three concerts in the Cloister of the Abbey
In July and august, the classic continues to reign supreme in the Chianti hills.
The protagonist of the three concerts in the monastic cloister of Badia a Passignano is the Orchestra of Tuscany.
The Badia concerts will start on Friday 8 July with the Orchestra directed by Diego Ceretta and the participation of Augusto Gasbarri on the cello.
To the musical journey that will ride the works of Haydn and Mozart the task of overwhelming the public in a whirlwind of emotions.
Alessandro Riccio returns to Badia with the Fiati dell’Ort on Wednesday 20 July, at the center of the show “The Green Years” with music by Giuseppe Verdi.
The last show, scheduled for Friday 5 August, is the one that stages the performance of the Orchestra della Toscana, directed by Daniele Giorgi with a program that offers music from the repertoire of Brahms and Mendelssohn-Bartoldy.
