An artistic setting for a prestigious music festival: in the ancient Abbey of Badia a Passignano the Pentecost Festival is back, to bring music and emotion to the Cenacolo Hall of Badia a Passignano.
The refectory, frescoed by Domenico Ghirlandaio with a magnificent “Last supper”, hosts the thirty-second edition of this high-level music festival, under the guidance of the artistic director Tiziano Mealli.
The prestigious program is promoted and organized by the Unione comunale del Chianti fiorentino and the Associazione Amici della Musica di Tavarnelle , with the patronage of the Regione Toscana, the Città Metropolitana, in collaboration with the Misericordia of Tavarnelle Barberino.
There are four events, scheduled from June 23rd to July 15th, which will bring to Badia a Passignano the music of Beethoven, Schubert, Dvorak, Scarlatti, Mozart, Schumann, Brahms, Mendelssohn-Bartoldy and many other international classical music composers.
The calendar opens on Saturday 23rd with the Adorno Quartet composed of Benedetta Bucci (viola), Edoardo Zosi (violin), Liù Pellicari (violin), Danilo Squitieri (cello), Tiziano Mealli (piano).
The second concert is scheduled for Thursday, June 28th, featuring The Quartetto di Fiesole; Alina Company and Simone Ferrari on the violin, Flaminia Zanelli on the viola, Sandra Bacci on the cello, Andrea Lucchesi on the piano and Sandro Cappellotto, as narrator. The concert is inspired by some of Shostakovich’s most beautiful work.
In July, on the 1st and the 15th, two great pianists will play on the stage of the Cenacolo of Badia a Passignano: Piero Narcisi Masi will perform music by Scarlatti, Mozart, Schumann, Brahms, Mendelssohn-Bartoldy. Jin Ju will perform music by Czerny, Schubert and Chopin.
Concerts start at 9.15pm. The initiative was carried out with the contribution of Toscana Energia.
