Here are the official rules for the first edition of the Chianti Classico Marathon which follows number “0” from 2016.

Here is all of the information necessary to decide whether or not to sign up for the magnificent race along the hills of Chianti Classico, which will take place on Sunday, May 7.

There are three itineraries, all departing from and arriving in Piazza Vittorio Veneto in Mercatale Val di Pesa: the Ultra Trail (48 km), Trail (24 km), Nordic Walking (10 km).

The last is a trail in a natural environment through unpaved roads, woods and countryside, along vineyards, as well as on sections of asphalt. Regarding entry, you can sign up on the site of “MySdam” and in the shops of “Il Campione” in Prato.

Costs: Ultra Trail/35 euro until April 23, 40 euros up to half an hour before departure; Trail/20 euros until April 23, 25 euros up to half an hour before departure; Nordic Walking/10 euros up to half an hour before departure.

Promotions: in the areas of the Chianti Classico marathon set up in the following competitions: on March 19/the “Maratonina” of Tavarnelle; on March 26/the 31st edition of the “Corri” at La Romola.

Participants in these competitions can sign up at a special price for 25 km of the Ultra Trail and 15 km for the Trail. There are special discounts for sports associations/ more than five athletes, 10% discount; more than 10 athletes, 20% discount, more than 15 athletes, 25% discount, more than 20 athletes, 35% discount.

Regarding the “pacco gara” (race package); to the first 100 signed up in the Ultra Trail race, a technical jersey created for the occasion by the consortium of Chianti Classico.

For those following, the event jersey plus a bottle of Chianti Classico wine and medal representing the event in terra-cotta from Impruneta plus a pasta party.

For participants in the Nordic walking, a bottle of Chianti Classico wine.

Prizes and categories:  Ultra Trail and Trail – the first five of each category for both men and women will receive an award. Men and women’s categories: seniors, 1998 to 1968 and veterans, 1967 and earlier. The three most numerous associations will also get an award.
