Only a few days remain before the “Guida Oro I Vini di Veronelli 2017” (The Veronelli Golden Guide to 2017 Wines) is published.

The volume dates back to the Luigi Veronelli catalogues, published since the 1960’s, when Luigi Veronelli was recognized by contemporary Italian food critics.

As tradition requires, the ”Seminario Permanente” Luigi Veronelli, nonprofit association which edits the guide, gives us advanced knowledge of the “super Tre Stelle” of 2017, excellent wines rewarded with the sought after three blue stars.

Out of 16,250 wines reviewed by the publication and produced by 2049 selected wineries, only 346 have received a rating equal to or higher than 94 out of 100, resulting from wine tasting by curators Gigi Brozzoni and Daniel Thomases: only the masterpieces of Italian winemaking have received the three superstars for 2017, the maximum acknowledgment.

From north to south of the peninsula, there are numerous production districts which reached a high quality level. However, in the usual challenge between Italian regions, the rating sees Tuscany in command with 94 “Super Tre Stelle”, followed by Piedmont with 76 wines and Veneto with 36. Sicily and Campania are the leaders in southern Italy, with respectively 24 and 20 labels rewarded.

The following are the labels from Chianti Classico territory which received the 3 stars.
