Four consecutive days of wine culture, events, sun and hot weather were the key elements of success for the Greve in Chianti Classico Expo that beat every record of its 46 years of history approximately 20,000 presences were registered at the Expo of Chianti Classico, an event full of wine tourists and happenings which ended on Sunday with an important positive outcome.

The historical wine/food festival celebrated the excellent Chianti Classico wine at the stands and pavilions in piazza Matteotti in Greve, where 5.000 more people than last year attended and 9.000 goblets, 1.000 more than last year, were sold.

The Greve in Chianti initiative was organized by the town of Greve, in collaboration with the Tuscan region and the Consortium of Chianti Classico wine. Prince of tradition and of the Chianti economy, wine was the absolute protagonist of the event. 62 wineries plus 30 in the common pavilion, were represented.

During the four days of cultural and wine and food events, the heart of Greve was crowded with thousands of wine tourists from all over the world, particularly from the United States, Australia, Japan and Europe.

“This was the first time we reached the maximum number of goblet sales,” commented the satisfied mayor of Greve, Paolo Sottani. “It is amazing that we sold even more than last year. Chianti Classico has been confirmed the key quality product of the success of our area; a wine that is fortified by history and the capacity of renewal by our entrepreneurs. It is the identity of the territory, making it a high-profile cultural, scenic, and food/wine entity. We must continue to work together, unified, to valorize and promote our rural fabric in the best way possible”.

“The hopes for this edition,” adds the Assessor of economic development, Gionni Pruneti, “were confirmed, thanks to the massive paricipation of te wineries as well as the level of consumers interested in the event. This was also illustrate by participation at the guided wine tastings in our Town meeting halll. We give thanks to all of the wineries and the town personnel who worked so hard to create this event”.

Monsanto, as well, with its “Calici d’Arte” (Goblets of Art), in piazza Cianferoni, in its fifth edition, consolidates the success of an event that proposes an unusual formula: art and wine and events with the participation of eight wineries which are well known in the national viticulture panorama.

“The initiative doubled participation,” comments the assessor, Silvano Bandinelli, “with around 1000 people registered over two days. It is building its stature thanks to the work of many volunteers who surround the organization, the company, and the Monsanto parish”.

“150 goblets were sold by the wineries”, add the organizers. “It was an incredible success that awards the quality of the festival, and increases promotion of our excellent products.”
