Once again this year, agritourism in Tuscany, a vacation between the countryside and the sea, living immersed in nature, is extremely popular. This year, Tuscany is again the leader with 4.074 businesses in the sector.

According to data by the Observatory of Agritourism of AgrieTour, this summer the structures are full. “It is early to give an exact estimate of the number of presences in agritourism this summer”, explains the President of the Arezzo Fairs and Congresses, Andrea Baldi, “but according to our evaluation, we can say that with changes in vacation types, agritourism continues to represent an excellent alternative to the sea, the mountains, and cities of art”.

Between the sea and the mountains, the Farm-stay is an excellent starting point. Foreigners are not as affected by the economic crisis as Italians. 81% of the English and 78% of the Germans have chosen agritourism without feeling influenced by the economic situation. A hotel is no longer enough; even seaside tourists often prefer to stay near the city, but in a rural dimension, especially thanks to the activities presented by this type of structure.

It is the same near the cities of art; the traditional ones of Tuscany, Umbria, Le Marche, and Veneto. Agritourists prefer the Tuscan provinces near the sea, (like Grosseto and the Argentario-The Silver coast), but also the area between Siena and Firenze (Chianti), as well as Livorno (coastal).

The regions preferred by Italians and English prevail in Tuscany (54%), followed by Umbria, (34%) , Marche and Sicily . For Germans, Tuscany tops the list at 35%, with Veneto in second place at 20% and Friuli at 14%.

The agritourist also has an interesting approach to the digital and social. 45% have shared their own experience on the social network with 38% giving a review. They also prefer to buy typical products while on vacation. Only 4% buy online once they are home.
