The Pentecost in Castellina has its 20th birthday and colors itself pink. The traditional event, dedicated to local wine production, will once again animate Castellina in Chianti from Friday, May 13 to Sunday the 15th.
On the last day it will greet the passage of the 9th stage of the 99th Giro d’Italia bicycle race which will be passing along the roads of Chianti Classico, from Radda to Greve in Chianti through Castellina.
This is one of the most traditional events for the Castellina community and is centered upon the opportunity to learn about high quality local wine production. The 2016 edition will intertwine with the historic passage of the Giro d’Italia, pink caravan of bicycles in Chiant Classico territory. In Castellina, “La Pentecoste” will celebrate its 20th edition with wine and food tastings, music, markets and exhibits by local artists and artisans.
The rich program is organized by the Association of Castellina in Chianti winemakers with the contribution and patronage of the township and the Consortium of Chianti Classico wine and the collaboration of the Philharmonic Society of Castellina, the Gruppo Idea Giovani (Young Ideas) and the association “I love Castellina in Chianti”.
The event begins on Friday, May 13, at 8pm with “A cena con il Classico”, at dinner with Chianti Classico, by reservation, and hosted by the “Albergaccio di Castellina”. Saturday, May 14, beginning at 4pm, there will be the blessing of via delle Volte followed by wine tasting of Chianti Classico in the street by the same name and will continue until 9:30pm.
It will be accompanied by 2 refreshment points organized by the association of the Winemakers of Castellina in Chianti. For the whole day, from 9:30am to 9:30pm, Via Ferruccio and piazza del Comune will host a market and exhibition of artists and local artisans, while at 5pm, the day will be enriched by the notes of the Philharmonic Society of Castellina in Chianti.
