They’re charming, magical, and tougher than their tropical cousins. The wild orchids that grow in the Botanical Park of the Osservatorio Multifunzionale del Chianti are no less beautiful than the planet’s most exotic plants in terms of colour, size and fascinating shape.

On Sunday April 22nd, passionate and curious hikers will have the chance to admire the varieties of orchids that colour the park set on the Montecorboli hill, in the municipality of Barberino Val d’Elsa.

With Rolando Romolini, expert of the Gruppo Italiano per la Ricerca sulle Orchidee Spontanee (Italian Research Group on Wild Orchids), and Barbara Guazzini, naturalist and hiking environmental guide, the Observatory dedicate a day to discovering nature – in collaboration with G.I.R.O.S.

Thanks to this event, you can enjoy a Sunday in the heart of Chianti, discovering the Tuscan wild Orchids. We recommend you wear comfortable shoes and clothing, and of course, bring your camera!

Here’s the program: from 9.30am to 12.30pm the experts will talk about the various species of orchids and invite the participants to observe and identify them.

After the lunch break, (packed lunch) from 2.00pm to 4.30pm, you’ll be invited to take a walk through the woods and green areas near the Park in search of other Chianti wild orchid specimens.

The event is open to adults and children. For information please contact 3331192517. Reservations: prenota@osservatoriochianti.it, www.osservatoriochianti.it.

In case of bad weather, the OPC reserves the right to cancel by 7pm on the evening before the event.
