As in a fairy tale, the “Castle” of Barberino Val d’Esa will be transformed into the ideal city for children.
On Sunday, April 23, “Il paese dei Balocchi” (The village of toys) will be presented. It is the second edition of the event, which recreates the atmosphere of an era when people met in the piazzas and courtyards to celebrate and have fun together.
Promoted by the township and organized by the Association “Colleventi”, the event will feature, games, fun and culture for children in a fascinating framework.
The magic of Medieval architecture will surround the historic center of Barberino, ready to great children of all ages from 10 AM to 8 PM with a carousel of activities: workshops, animation, walks, theatre, fable readings, mascots and other attractions.
The event program is rich and varied. The assessor for the “historic center”, Cristina Pratesi, illustrates the details and invites families to participate.
“The day of celebrations,” comments the assessor, ”opens with a creative laboratory from 10 AM to noon, and again in the afternoon, from 3 PM to 4 PM. Some moments, between 5 PM and 6:30 PM will be dedcated to a puppet theatre and the readings of a group of volunteers from Barberino and Tavarnelle, Nati per Leggere”.
In the “Paese dei Balocchi” we also play with history: “One of the most interesting experiences proposed is the involvement of little explorers in a treasure hunt looking for the secrets of the town, a walk in time to help one become aware of the origins of Barberino and the people who have made it famous over the centuries”.
A guided tour tracing the origins of the castle has been organized. It will be led by the art historian, Sara Innocenti, and is scheduled for 3 PM. The meeting place is in front of the Porta Senese. The tour is free of charge and will last an hour.Children must be accompanied by an adult.
From 3 PM to 7 PM, animators will entertain children, with face make-up: characters, animals and fantastic creatures will become alive on the children’s faces.
Entrance is free.
