Christmas holidays are just around the corner, and this is the perfect time to be together around a table. Chianti restaurants are now proposing their special Christmas and New Year’s Eve menus, which are sure to tickle our palates.

This is the case for the Borgo di Cortefreda restaurant in Tavarnelle, whose team managed by chef Veronica, has created a truly special proposal for those festive evenings.

Let’s start with their Christmas menu: savoury Panettone with nuts and Taleggio; Pork loin with a delicious salad of celery and raspberries; the Borgo’s Russian salad quenelle; Liver pâté terrine.

Moving on to the first courses: Peposo ravioli with a crispy sage and bean sauce; Beetroot Garganelli with Porcini and Pecorino di Fossa cheese.

As a second dish: Rolled guinea-fowl and pork with orange sauce, a stew of potatoes, artichokes and Taggiasche olives. Dessert: Dark chocolate cake with black cherry served with orange custard cream. Price: 45 euro per person, excluding wine.

New Year’s Eve menu: Welcome aperitif with canapes and finger food accompanied by bubbles. Starters: Seabass tartare served on a seasonal fruit and vegetable salad; Cardoon flan with Taleggio cheese cream and crunchy bacon.

First courses: Venere rice “all’imperiale” with guacamole and candied Certaldo onion; Homemade Tuscan ham and porcini mushrooms ravioli with a cream of saffron sauce.

These are the second courses of the New Year’s Eve menu at the Borgo di Cortefreda: Grilled octopus marinated with ginger served with a potato mousse and grated black olives; Limoncello Sorbet; Beef medallion with spinach, robiola cheese and bread cookie.

Finally the dessert: Millefoglie meringue with chestnut cream, marron glacé, toffee sauce and coffee powder. Price: 95 euro per person with water, wine and coffee included.
