The Tuscan “schiacciata con l’olio” is perfect when stuffed with mortadella, ham, or finocchiona, but you can also try it on its own. It tastes heavenly when it’s warm, straight out of the oven.
Lucolena dedicates a festival to this typical flat bread, the Schiacciata con l’Olio Festival. It’ll be held on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th June in Lucolena, a lovely hamlet surrounded by chestnut groves .
It’s organized by the Pro Loco of Lucolena, and sponsored by the Municipality of Greve in Chianti.
During the Festival the stalls will be open from 10am to 10pm, selling fresh schiacciate, plain or stuffed, made right there in front of your eyes. A craft market will colour the streets of Lucolena.
Saturday June 16th from 12pm to 6pm, “Divertiamoci tutti insieme” (Let’s have fun together) – games for adults and children with Caro & Ale; at 6pm summer bingo (prizes: Coop shopping vouchers); at 9pm music with Dallaza Sha & Co.
Sunday, June 17th at 11am Holy Mass; from 3pm, music with Davide; at 5pm flag throwing show of the Sbandieratori dei Borghi e Sestieri Fiorentini; at 8.30pm “briscola” card game tournament under the stars (you can register from 7pm in the square).
