Greve in Chianti‘s new season is filled with great music: from classical to opera, from jazz to tango and rock.

This is thanks to the project “Musical Spring” – carried out by the School of Music in collaboration with the Municipality – which will travel from village to village taking music wherever it goes.

This is the second edition of the event that, until July 31st, will be retracing the history of music, presenting famous masterpieces by great composers from the 18th to the 20th century and different musical heritage from the world, from Italian opera to the Argentine tango.

Ten events will enrich the Chianti’s spring and summer evenings, in some of the most prestigious Tuscan settings.

It started on Saturday April 14th with a concert that paid tribute to the centenary of WWII 1918-2018.

Chamber music gives way to opera, with a concert held in the Margherita Hack hall on Tuesday 17th April in occasion of the celebrations of Verrazzano Day. Protagonists: Sofia Folli (soprano) and Niccolò Cantara (piano), music by Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, and Massenet.

On Saturday 2nd June, on the occasion of the Festa della Repubblica and the Profumi di Lamole, the square in San Donato in Lamole will host a jazz concert from 5pm – The “Tuscany sax and Drums” concert will be performed by four saxophonists (Riccardo Guazzini, Piero Bronzi, Francesco Vichi, Riccardo Zini) and a drummer (Gianni Cerone).

In June, there will be two more events you absolutely cannot miss. Music by Mozart and Beethoven.

On Friday June 22nd at 9pm the agriturismo Villa Il Leccio in Strada in Chianti will host Morricone’s Mood concert, with the Trio Mila. The soprano Delia Palmieri will be accompanied by flautist Federica Baronti and harpist Diana Colosi.

“Musical Spring” does not fear the heat and welcomes the colours, scents and sounds of summer. “Jazz in terrazza” opens the four events scheduled for July.
