The Chianti Classico territory is known in the whole world for its two main products: wine and extra virgin olive oil. But there are many other valid products that represent our treasures.

Often these products are protagonists of fairs, tastings and other gastronomic initiatives. One of these is the pine nut which has been celebrated in the town of Chiesanuova (San Casciano) with the “Sagra di’ Pinolo” (pine nut festival) over the last 40 years.

This year it is in program for June 2-12. Among the food stands, one can delight in the famous “pinolate”, pine nut cakes with Chiesanuova’s unique recipe. There will be many events and shows. Throughout the festival, there will be a local artisan market and a stand run by charities, library and children’s games, a photo exhibit, old postcards, bicycle themes, wine and beer tasting, various games, inflatables for children, and games of chance.

Thursday  June 2:  8:30pm  The Theatre School, “Franco Bartalucci” presents a dinner show (obligatory reservations at 0558242480).

Friday  June 3: 7pm   The jury of the Artistica del Caffe’ Letterario delle Giubbe Rosse will give prizes to the winners of the contest “Un logo per la Sagra di’ Pinolo” at 9:30 pm, there will be an evening of dance, “Passion de Tango”.

Saturday  June 4: 3:30 pm Dog Show with the following categories: newcomers, youth, free, mixed breeds (info Leonardo 3355645937 or Riccardo 3355922011) at 5pm Exhibition of antique Tractors..”Agricoltura, il lavoro che cambia nel tempo” (Agriculture, work that changes in time) at 9:30 pm live music with P.O.R.R.O 2.0, Punk Rock cover band.

Sunday June 5 9:30am: Holy Mass in the park at 12:30 pm   lunch at the l’pinole restaurant 4pm “Mamma, ma com’erano i vecchi balocchi di legno?” (Mamma, remember the old wooden toys?) come see them and build them with us 4pm flag throwers, “Alfieri e Musici della Val Marina” 5pm Exhibition of antique Tractors 6:30mp   street band, “Ugo dei Nativi” 9:30pm “Missione da i’ Paradiso”, 3 act comedy by Antonella Zucchini, presented by the “Franco Bartalucci” theatre school.

Monday June 6: 7:30pm at the pizzeria l’Pinolo, dinner with “roasted meats”  (reservations for the dinner at 0558242480), dinner with the Festival menu for those who don’t reserve 10pm  live music: “Perfidia Trio”, Cuban music.

Tuesday June 7: 8:30pm  dinner show presented by the “Franco Bartalucci” theatre school (obligatory reservations at 0558242480).

Wednesday June 8: 9:30pm   recital by the dance school, Sancaballet.

Thursday June 9: 9:30pm “Missione da l’Paradiso”, 3 act comedy presented by “Franco Bartolucci” Theatre School.

Friday June 10: 8pm Boxing match 10pm “Bar West” Reggae Roots Night with Marco Dread.

Saturday June 11 4pm  marketplace with local artisans and antiques 6pm live music with “La Bandaccia” 9:30pm ballroom dancing with “Mixage”.

Sunday June 12: 12:30 lunch at l’Pinolo 4pm  marketplace with local artisans and antiques 5pm   exhibition of “I Falconieri del Re”… hawks 5:30pm.  Clown show presented by volunteers 8:30pm rhythm gymnastics show (ASD Il Gabbiano) 10pm “Bar West band 11:15pm  fireworks.
