On Thursday, February 2, at 9:15 PM, “Around the world in 80 days – story game between Jules Verne and Sotterraneo” is on the scene at the Vittorio Alfieri town Theater of Castelnuovo Berardenga.

The event is part of the theatre’s season, promoted in collaboration with the “Fondazione Toscana Spettacolo onlus” and under the artistic direction of “Lo Stanzone delle Apparizioni”. There will be a second performance the following day, Friday, February 3 at 10 AM for students of the secondary schools G. Papini in the district of Castelnuovo Berardenga.

“Around the world in 80 days”, starring Sara Bonaventura, Claudio Cirri and MattiaTuliozi, tells the story of Phileas Fogg, 19th century gentleman who goes around the world on a bet, but at the same time is at the center of an adventurous race against time and the encyclopedic reorganization of knowledge of the epoch.

The characters travel from London to London, passing through Egypt, India, China, and the United States amongst various adventures, symbolic meanings and continuous vintage twists.

In the staging of Sotterraneo, the world described by the book title is read and recounted through a participatory game with the public, combining acting with interactive quizzes, narrative twists, challenges, and possible deviations which transform the novel into a hypertext filled with sudden twists and connections between the 1800s and today.

The performance is a coproduction between Sotterraneo and the Associazione Teatrale Pistoiese, with the support of the Tuscan Region, Mibact, the Township of Florence and Funder 35.

The theatre season will continue on Saturday, March 4, with Alessandro Benvenuti in the “The Miser” by Moliere. Tickets can be reserved at the box office of the Teatro Alfieri or by calling 0577-351345. They can be picked up at the box office the evening before the show.
