At the end of September the hamlet of Vagliagli hosts the 2019 edition of the Festa dell’Uva, the traditional grape festival in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga.

Here’s the full program.

THURSDAY 19th SEPTEMBER

8pm: Traditional Dinner (by reservation).

FRIDAY 20th SEPTEMBER

7pm: opening of the wine and spirits tasting area curated by Sommelier; opening of exhibitions and games; opening of the photo exhibit and photo contest “Reflections”: opening of the painting exhibition.

7pm: food stand opening.

10pm: concert in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele.

SATURDAY 21st SEPTEMBER

2pm: festival’s official stamp at the post office.

2.30pm: start of the trek – second “Raduno Intercomunale”

3.30pm: opening of the photo exhibition for the “Riflessi” photo contest; opening of the painting exhibition.

4.30pm: entertainment for kids with the cooperative Pleiades Centro Equestre of Borgo Cignano.

5pm: opening of the wine and spirits tasting area curated by Sommelier; opening of exhibitions, market and games; the (free) shuttle service begins, leaving from the parking lots in the Piani area and the town’s war memorial.

6pm: acoustic live concert in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele with the “Duocaster – Acustica Group” (free admission).

7pm: food stand opening.

10pm: an evening dedicated to young people (free admission).

SUNDAY 22nd SEPTEMBER

9am: stamping of the canvases for the extemporary painting competition “…E tra le vie del borgo”” – participants registration and delivery of the guidelines for the extemporary photo contest “Un paese in festa”.

9.30 am: “Strega Comanda Color” kid’s painting competition, seventh edition.

10 am: Holy Mass.

10.30am: vintage car rally.

11am: blessing of the cars through the intercession of St. Christopher; the (free) shuttle service begins, leaving from the parking lots in the Piani area and the town’s war memorial; opening of the photo exhibition for the “Riflessi” photo contest; opening of the painting exhibition, market and games.

12.30 pm: food stand opening.

4.30pm: opening of the wine and spirits tasting area curated by Sommelier.

5pm: traditional parade of ox carts and tractors with the collaboration of the Castellina in Chianti Philharmonic; a show in traditional costumes by local boys and girls.

7pm: award ceremonies of the extemporary painting contest “… E tra le vie del borgo”, the impromptu photo competition “Un paese in festa”, and the “Riflessi” photo competition.

7.30 pm: food stand opening.

9.30pm: ballroom dancing with the orchestra.

11pm: fireworks display.
