Imagine the picturesque square of a small town in the Chianti: from the famous one in Greve in Chianti to the small and lively square in Montefiridolfi, located in the municipality of San Casciano Val di Pesa.

Matteo Bagnoli

Take a picture of this square and superimpose it on a photo captured in the same spot a few decades ago.

That’s how Matteo Bagnoli gives life to his wonders, creating a sort of magical effect.

“For now – he tells us – I have captured these two squares. I took a historical photo of Greve, and my grandfather gave me an old picture of Montefiridolfi, where I live. But it’d be nice to try the same thing with San Casciano or Mercatale”.

Matteo Bagnoli has a big deal of creativity and passion for the land where he lives. ”I love the idea of celebrating our beautiful region, which is full of history”.

Not surprisingly, he has also opened an Art Gallery (SPAM) right in his town’s square, together with a few others.

Montefiridolfi

“What do I do for living? I’m a designer in a lighting company at Sambuca – answers Matteo – and I also do some graphic work (www.mabastudio.it): the passion for photography has grown with me, since I was 14. I still participate in courses and workshops, and I really like street photography, trying to capture those precious fleeting moments”.

“Are there any tricks? No tricks – he replies with a smile – The beautiful thing is precisely that the superimposing comes naturally, then I just add some retouches to the colours and the photo is ready”.
