The much-awaited “Calici di stelle” is back in Castellina in Chianti with some brand new surprises.

Organised by the Associazione Amo Castellina in collaboration with the Associazione Viticoltori Castellina in Chianti and the Gruppo Idea Giovani, this Festival is dedicated to local wine, products from the territory and astronomy and it’ll take place from 9th to 12th August.

The extensive program will delight connoisseurs, who will enjoy the best wines from Castellina paired with typical dishes and Tuscan street food.

Thursday, August 9th “Aspettiamo camminando Calici di Stelle”, a night walk on the Via Romea Sanese.

The tastings will start on Friday 10th, from 5pm – and from the same time on Saturday – at the three stands managed by the Sommelier A.I.S. or directly from the local producers who will be present with their best wines.

Various entertainment will liven up Castellina: music (dance music with the Dixie Band Street Parade on Friday from 6pm, Maria Laura Bigliazzi will provide the background to the tasting “Calici al tramonto” on Sunday evening, and a sax and harmonica duo will perform on Saturday evening); the local artisan market will bring colour to the historic center – from Friday at 3pm – and a variety of activities will entertain the kids on Saturday afternoon.

A guided observation of the stars will be organised by the amateur astronomers of the Unione Astrofili Senesi on Friday and Saturday from 9.30pm in the beautiful walkway just outside the town’s walls; you can visit the archaeological museum for free during the special evening opening.

On Sunday 12th at 5pm there will be a guided tasting of sweet wines held by Massimo Castellani – professional Sommelier and Ambassador of the Chianti Classico – in the Medieval Tower (reservation is mandatory and can be done at the Castellina in Chianti Tourist Office).

Grand finale on Sunday from 6.00pm with tastings of white, rosé and sparkling wines which are perfect to refresh these hot summer evenings!
